THE AREA
 World famous Carmel-By-The-Sea is only six miles to the west. On your way, you might stop at the Barnyard or Crossroads shopping center, or detour south at Hwy. 1 for a spectacular 26-mile drive down the Big Sur coast. If hiking is for you, Pt. Lobos Preserve is just south of Carmel-By-The-Sea.
To the north, Monterey features historic walking paths and garden tours. Discover Fisherman's Wharf, Customs House Plaza, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Monterey Historic Automobile Races, and a long list of other events throughout the year.
A short walk south of Fisherman's Wharf brings you to John Steinbeck's Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Just around the bend is Pebble Beach, home of  the AT&T Pro-Am and the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance.
If you have a taste for city life, San Francisco is only a two-hour drive or 30-minute flight to the north from Monterey Airport, where you'll find several General Aviation facilities as well as major commercial carriers.
